Maybe it means John Ashcroft doesn't respect reading

Not to get too political, but did anyone notice this in the Republican party platform:

Our Party believes, as does the President, that reading is the new civil right.

I'm not even sure what that means. This, from the party that brought us the surveillance of your library records? Somebody please explain to me what the fuck that means.

I think it means that the national GOP is fundamentally ignorant with regard to the meaning of the words "civil rights."
